Wakefield, as one of the five Places that will enable the vision to be realised, is committed to the vision and has elements of trauma-informed practice developing and, in some areas, well established. The work is diverse and has varied levels of maturity.
Wakefield supports the West Yorkshire vision of working together with people with lived experience and colleagues across all sectors and organisations to ensure West Yorkshire is a trauma informed and responsive system by 2030 and develop a whole system approach to tackling multiple disadvantage.
Strategic oversight is provided by different parts of the Wakefield governance structure. The Children’s Safeguarding Partnership has oversight of the way that trauma-informed practice is embedded within children’s social work, and the Wakefield Mental Health Alliance funds and provides oversight to schemes that are trauma-informed. The way in which ownership is distributed is positive and provides strength and depth to this agenda in Wakefield
